What kind of restrictions will I face after surgery?

You may be required to wear a brace to maintain immobility while healing. You must also wait a minimum of four weeks or until the incision is completely healed before submerging in a bath or hot tub.

The specific instructions you will receive post-op will vary depending on the procedure, but in general there are four basic precautions:

  • No bending
  • No straining
  • No lifting more than 10lbs
  • No twisting

What should I expect on the day of my surgery?

  • Do not eat anything after midnight
  • Do not take any aspirin
  • Discontinue the use of diet pills and all herbal or “natural” supplements

When is surgery an appropriate treatment?

Since the patient is the one experiencing the pain, it is up to the patient to decide when to have surgery.

During your first visit you can expect a routine exam in which we will follow up with your medical history and discuss any questions or concerns you might be having.
